Dress Code

Dress Code for Vice Presidents and Members Enclosures

The Royal Norfolk Show is a prestigious event where smart dress is requested and very much encouraged. The Association’s minimum acceptable standard in the pavilions and enclosures is smart casual attire.

Over the past few years we have received several complaints from members who feel the dress code is slipping.

We would be grateful if you could read and comply with the following guidelines for the dress code in both enclosures:-

Ladies are invited to ‘dress up’ for the occasion and hats are encouraged for the Heavenly Hats and Best Dressed Visitor Competitions. The Headline Hats is judged on the Wednesday of the Show and the Best Dressed Visitor Competition is judged on both days.

Gentlemen are encouraged to wear smart trousers, jacket and collared shirt, either with tie or open-neck. Smart tailored shorts on hot days are acceptable.

Smart denim jeans are acceptable, but without fades, stains, tears or frayed ends. No bare tops, vests, swimming trunks, beach wear, trainers, tracksuits or unduly scruffy attire please.

We would be grateful if you could ensure your children are also suitably attired and that other members of your family or guests for whom you buy guest badges are made fully aware of the Dress Code.

Security will be at the entrance to the enclosures and they have the authority to refuse admission to inappropriately dressed people. They have also been tasked to prevent any under age drinking, as both the pavilions and lawns are licensed areas.
